Privacy Policy - Minagate Location Authentication
This Privacy Policy explains how the Minagate Location Authentication app (“the App”) collects, uses, and protects information when truck drivers use Minagate services and are asked to verify their identity, device, and location.
The App is intended for truck drivers who use Minagate’s logistics and transportation-related services. It is not intended for general consumer location tracking.
1. Purpose of the App
The App is used to verify that an authorized truck driver is using the expected device and is physically present at the required location when completing a Minagate workflow.
A verification session may include:
- confirming the driver’s identity;
- verifying the driver using a one-time password (OTP);
- checking device-related information;
- collecting a limited number of location readings while the App is open;
- submitting the verification result securely to Minagate systems.
The App does not provide continuous background location tracking.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on the verification process, the App may collect or process:
- driver name;
- driver phone number;
- geographic location, including latitude, longitude, accuracy, and timestamp;
- location quality and anti-spoofing signals made available by the operating system;
- device information such as platform, manufacturer, model, operating system version, and App version;
- a randomly generated installation identifier;
- on Android, ANDROID_ID as an additional device-correlation signal;
- device/app integrity information where supported;
- verification status and result;
- technical information required to complete and secure the verification request.
3. Location Information
The App uses location information only during an active location-verification session started by the driver.
The App:
- does not continuously track location;
- does not collect location in the background;
- does not maintain a continuous history of the driver’s movements;
- collects only the location readings needed to complete the verification process.
Location information may be used to confirm that the driver is present at the expected location and to detect suspicious or manipulated location data.
4. Device Information
The App uses a randomly generated installation identifier to identify the current installation.
On Android devices, the App may also process ANDROID_ID to help recognize the same device across normal app reinstalls and to help detect suspicious attempts to use one device for different driver identities.
The App does not use IMEI, device serial number, MAC address, or advertising ID as its primary device identifier.
5. One-Time Password Verification
The App may require a one-time password when a device is registered for the first time or when device verification is required again.
The OTP is used only to authenticate the driver and authorize the device for the verification process.
6. How We Use Information
Information collected through the App may be used to:
- verify the identity of the truck driver;
- verify the driver’s location;
- verify the device being used;
- detect location spoofing, device misuse, or unauthorized verification attempts;
- protect Minagate systems and services from fraud or abuse;
- process and record verification results;
- diagnose technical problems and maintain service reliability;
- comply with legal or operational requirements.
7. Data Security
Data transmitted between the App and Minagate systems is protected using HTTPS.
The App may also use additional encryption mechanisms for verification data.
Sensitive authentication material is stored using secure storage mechanisms provided by the device operating system where available.
Minagate applies reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or misuse.
8. Sharing of Information
Minagate does not sell drivers’ personal information to advertisers.
Information may be processed by Minagate systems and service providers that are necessary to operate, secure, and support the verification service.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law, regulation, legal process, or when necessary to protect Minagate, its customers, drivers, or other users.
9. Advertising
The App is not intended to provide advertising services and does not use driver location or device information for targeted advertising.
10. Data Retention
Verification information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for operational, security, fraud-prevention, audit, contractual, or legal purposes.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason for which it is processed.
11. Driver Rights and Requests
Drivers may contact Minagate to ask questions about their personal information or to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable under relevant law and contractual arrangements.
Some information may need to be retained for security, legal, operational, or audit purposes.
12. Children
The App is intended for professional truck drivers and other authorized business users. It is not directed to children.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Minagate may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, services, security practices, or legal requirements.
The updated version will be published with a revised “Last updated” date.
